How to find website errors with google chrome

How to find website errors with google chrome

Hey guys, Peter with Sun Life Tech and welcome to the first, in many videos on how to find errors on your website. And so I made these videos in hopes that it would help people figure out errors immediately without going crazy and trying to look everywhere and wasting so many hours of time, trying to figure out what in the world is wrong with your website.

And so a example. Let’s say, you’re looking at your website. You notice something is off, whether it be an icon or maybe there’s too much space on the menu area here. And you’re just trying to figure out what’s going on. So the quickest way is to right click in that area where you’re looking for. And, and, and the first thing you want to look at is right here at the top, where I’m muscling over.

As you can see there’s an X with a number three next to it. So that means there’s three errors and you want to click there immediately at the bottom, you’re going to notice a bunch of errors or a bunch of information, and it kind of tells you what’s going on. So immediately you’re going to be able to notice, okay, well, what’s going on here?

What, what am I missing? And you’re going to notice that here there’s a resource is failing to load, uh, here, another JPEG image. And here, uh, another PNG image is a issue loading those resources. And so that’ll give you a good direction as to where to look now. Another, another, uh, little trick is, uh, let’s say you’re mousing over something and you’re trying to figure out where the error is.

It is. So if you notice when you mouse over, it’ll highlight the page in blue or whatever color your browser set to highlight in. And, uh, that’ll give you a clear indication as to where something is at. So, if you notice here, let’s see if we can find it. Yeah. Here. And this will give you all the information you need.

On the left-hand side, you’ll notice a little box appearing that gives you information about your template and also the dimensions and that’ll help you. Okay. Your issue as well. Google Chrome is a great resource with a lot of cool features in it. And inspect is one of them. A little fun side notes. If you want to look at styling of a page, you can go and look at, um, the view page source here, and it’ll show you as you can see the entire layout for the website and what information.

So like this site here, you can see immediately if they’re using Google webmaster tools, and this is a Google site verification, uh, they’re also using Bing and you can see some of their SEO information here as well. So that’s it guys. So hopefully this video helps you in locating errors on your website and helps you fix them quicker.

So, um, this one here, we used a Largo cafe, which is a nice old cafe Largo, excuse me, nice local cafe in the area. So if you’re, if you’re in the area, make sure and check them out. Nice people. Okay guys, thank you so much for your time and have a great one.
